I don’t believe creativity belongs to artists. I believe it belongs to everyone.
Creativity isn’t something reserved for the naturally gifted. It’s part of being human. Sometimes we simply forget how to hear it.
It lives in the way someone solves a problem, makes a home feel welcoming, tells a story, plants a garden, builds a business, or imagines a life that doesn’t exist yet.
I've always lived close to my imagination
When I was little, I could disappear into my imagination for hours. One day I was She-Ra, saving the world. The next, I was dancing through some far-off story or filling pages with unicorns and places I wished were real.
I grew up in a small desert town at the base of the Sierra Nevadas, surrounded by wide-open land, shifting light, rugged mountains, and the feeling that something mysterious might be waiting just beyond what I could see. That landscape and mystery shaped me. It taught me to notice beauty in unexpected places and to look for the story beneath the surface.
Art became the way I made sense of those stories.
For more than twenty years, I’ve painted murals in schools, hospitals, restaurants, salons, businesses, and homes. I’ve created alongside children, adults, beginners, lifelong artists, and plenty of people who arrived saying, “I’m not creative.”
Those may be my favorite people to teach.
Because somewhere between the first uncertain mark and when they step back to see what they’ve made, something changes. They remember that creativity was never missing. It was just waiting for permission to come back.
The art I am currently creating
My paintings are soulful and symbolic, rooted in nature and the stories we carry as we walk through our lives.
I’m drawn to women, animals, wild landscapes, changing skies, and the quiet moments when strength and tenderness exist together. My work often explores intuition, transformation, protection, courage, and our human connection with nature.
I want a painting to do more than match a room.
I want it to hold a feeling.
A reminder. A question. A piece of a story the viewer may not have words for yet.
The Heart of Feather Opal Studios
A home for everyone who forgot they were creative
For a while, Feather Opal Studios was a physical place filled with paint, laughter, classes, and people making things together. I closed that studio in 2022, and for a while, I wasn’t sure what its next chapter would become.
I knew I didn’t want to rebuild it as only another online shop.
I wanted it to become a creative world people could step into. A place for dreamers, seekers, collectors, curious souls, and anyone trying to find their way back to themselves.
So this new version of Feather Opal Studios is still unfolding.
It is original art and meaningful objects. It is workshops, vintage treasures, handmade curiosities, stories, inspiration, and the occasional beautiful experiment. It is a home for people who forgot they were creative.
Most of all, it is an invitation:
To notice more.
To follow your curiosity.
To make something imperfect.
To trust the ideas that won’t leave you alone.
To dream boldly and create a little magic in your everyday life.
So, please, get comfy, grab a hot cup of tea, and explore our little corner of the world. We're so glad you are here.
If you leave our little corner of the world feeling just a bit more curious, a bit more courageous, or a bit more connected than when you arrived… then I’ve done what I came here to do.
✨Welcome to Feather Opal Studios. ✨
Everything you find here begins with curiosity and wonder
